DIO- HOLY DIVER LIVE

Being that Ronnie James Dio tragically passed away last week, losing his battle with stomach cancer, I felt the need to add more Dio to my collection. This live DVD, which I picked up for a mere seven bucks this week at FYE, more than fit the bill.

Shot in Britain on Oct. 22, 2005, Dio played all of his classic Holy Diver album, as well as other classics from his solo career, and even two Rainbow tracks (Gates of Babylon, Man on the Silver Mountain) and the all time Sabbath classic, Heaven and Hell. The concert, itself, clocks in at slightly over two hours and kicks major ass. From the opening of Tarot Woman to closing of the ass whooping We Rock, this is one hell of a live performance. Most touching now, is seeing how gracious Dio was with his fans. He was a great man and is a rock legend, for sure.

Ronnie's voice sounds amazing and the band is at their best. The transfer is simply gorgeous with stunning, lively colors. The sound is awesome, too. You can hear it either in Dolby Digital Stereo or Dolby Digital Surround 5.1.

As for extras, we get cool interviews with the band regarding playing in this show and tour. We also get linear notes form Classic Rock Magazine writer Dave Ling. In all, an excellent must have DVD.

**** out of ****

Lap Dancing, The Master's New Career?

This past Friday was my friend's Meegan's b-day, so I gave her a lap dance. Which leads me to this question, I have I found a new calling? A new career, perhaps. Here is the video documentation of it:

Ladies, I am available for your parties, too! Book your turn, now!

And, remember I work hard for my tips!

In Remembrance of a Metal Legend, Ronnie James Dio

I first heard this tragic news yesterday, when I had saw a rumor had stated that he had died on Saturday. But, it was then said that he was actually alive. Later that day, though, this was posted by his wife, Wendy Dio:

Today my heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45am 16th May. Many, many friends and family were able to say their private good-byes before he peacefully passed away. Ronnie knew how much he was loved by all. We so appreciate the love and support that you have all given us. Please give us a few days of privacy to deal with this terrible loss. Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever.

- Wendy Dio

(If you wish to leave condolences go to the official Facebook page)

I'll be first to sat that this news came to me as major blow. I have been a fan of the man (whose last stage name means God in Italian) and his music since I was in high school. He would eventually become one of my heroes.

He was born Ronald James Padavona on July 10, 1942. After working on various bands, including Elf, he was recruited by Richie Blackmore, along with other Elf members, to form Rainbow. Rainbow was an amazing early heavy metal/ hard rock band. They released three albums with Dio, including Rainbow Rising, which became a classic. He left Rainbow when Blackmore wanted to take the band in a more commercial route.

In 1979, he joined Black Sabbath, after Ozzy had left. They released their masterpiece Heaven and Hell, along with two more albums (the last one a live one). Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules are both considered classics of the genre. The title track from HaH is quite simply one of the greatest metal songs ever written. An epic song with powerful and unforgettable lyrics. It was during this time that he popularized the "devil horns", which came from his grandmother. It's called the Malocchio or evil eye. It gave just another reason for us metalheads, to love and be grateful to him.

Dio eventually left Sabbath and formed his own solo band, Dio. They would put out many albums over the years, including the genre defining classic that is Holy Diver. Both the title track and Rainbow in the Dark became metal favorites. And, gave him further success.

One of my fav Dio tracks, live: Don't Talk to Strangers

He returned to Sabbath for Dehumanizer, the album that got me into this version of Sabbath, in 1992. He would eventually return full time to Sabbath in 2006. A best of Black Sabbath with Dio collection was released with a couple of new songs. The band changed their name to Heaven and Hell, and would release their one and only studio album (under that name), The Devil That You Know. It was an immediate success, debuting at number 8, making it the highest debut for a Sabbath album in history. It received great reviews and as an awesome, classic sounding masterwork.

Sadly, on November 25, 2009, his wife announced he had stomach cancer. I was greatly saddened by this bit of news. Many fans, including myself, sent their well wishes to him. And, then it seemed that he had gotten better. But, by May 4, Heaven & Hell canceled all their summer tour dates. He had gotten very ill. Dio died at 7:45 am on May 16, 2010.

I feel a very heavy hearted writing this blog. It wasn't easy to put my thoughts into paper. In fact, yesterday, I had to log off the net for a little while; as I was shaken and deeply, deeply saddened. And, so I had to pay tribute to the man, the legend that is Ronnie James Dio, and write this blog, today. While, he is gone his legacy will live on in the great music he made. Throw up those devil horns for him and rock out to his amazing musicianship. May you RIP, Ronnie James Dio.

The 10 Hottest MILFs

Well, this Sunday is Mother's Day, so I wanted to take the time out to wish all the moms out there a wonderful day. And, I hope you all take this day to tell and show your moms how much you love them. Do something special for them. You know they deserve it!
Anyways, enough with the sweet, nice stuff. I also felt it was time to pay some love for MILFs! The following is a list, in ascending order, of the 10 most uber-hot mature babes around. While not all of them are actual moms, they are all 40 or over. Enjoy the beauty of these women, who only get finer with time.

10. Lucy Lawless- I truly think this New Zealand 42 year old babe is more stunning than ever. Want proof? Then you clearly have not been watching Spartacus: Blood and Sand, as I have been tell you to do. Shame on you for not seeing her amazing, naked boobs!

9. Ming Na- She has the ability with her exquisite beauty to make even the crappiest of films (Street Fighter [Van Damme version], Prom Night [remake]) shine. Well, at least while she is on screen. At 46 years of age this babe is just draw dropping in her breathtaking looks.

8. Demi Moore- I have had a crush on Demi Moore ever since I was a kid, and you know what? I still love her! At 47 she still looks AMAZING! That body is wow, just wow!!! She is a complete and utter heartbreaker with killer legs, a beautiful face, and stunning eyes. That Ashton Kutcher is one lucky fuck! I mean did you see her when she was on Chlesea Handler's recent special?! I mean my jaw dropped! And, between both those babes, so did the drool!

7. Doro Pesch- The German metal goddess herself is rocking hard, kicking ass, and looking delicious at 45! It's amazing in how good shape she keeps herself. I am a huge fan of her and her music and with good reason, I must add!

6. Lauren Graham- She played one of the hottest and most beautiful moms in the history of TV on The Gilmore Girls, and on the new show, Parenthood, she is keeping that title alive and well. OK, neither show are my cup of blood, but she more than made up for that with her role in my all time fav comedy, Bad Santa, as a sexy bartender with a thing for Santa. Quick where's a spare Santa suit? Need to wear one for this 43 year old goddess!

5. Marisa Tomei- I have always liked this Italian goddess, but it's her role in The Wrestler, as a stripper mom, two years ago, that cemented her as one of the all time great MILFs. Her body looked smoking hot as she was topless and giving lap dances! I wish she really did work at a strip club! Preferably one close to me!

4. Lucy Liu- One of the most flawless and beautiful complexions ever belong to this 41 year old hailing from my home town of Queens, NY. Lucy is always captivating and stunning to look at. She also happens to be a damn good actress and even more awesome when she is kicking someone's ass.

3. Vicky Vette- Let's be honest here, MILF porn fucking rulz. And, one of the best performers in them, has to be the beautiful Ms. Vette. I simply cannot believe that this beauty is actually 44 years old! A Norwegian vision of optimum beauty!

2. Ginger Lynn Allen- Perhaps one of my longest lasting crushes, I truly believe Ginger Lynn to be one of the most beautiful women, ever, MILF or not. Having had the pleasure of meeting her last year at Exxxotica NY, I can assure you that she is even more sexy in person. This 47 year old lovely just exudes sex! Plus, she is one of the very few women who have done X-rated, B-movies, big budget movies, and TV. Ginger Lynn rules!

1. Kelly Hu- A long time admirer and fan of the gorgeous Ms. Hu, it is hard to believe that she is actually 42 years old! Look at her! She just keeps getting more and more impossibly beautiful. Plus, she's another honey that looks so good when she is kicking someone's ass! Kelly's involvement in various causes also prove that this babe is as beautiful on the inside, as she is on the outside. Kelly Hu more than surely deserves her top spot on this list.

And, so remember, I love MILFs, you love them, we all love them!

Halestorm- Wesbter Hall, NYC, April 26, 2010

Last Monday, April 26, 2010 my friend Alan and I attended a free Halestorm concert in Webster Hall. I've liked them since I heard them and got their album last year. Over time, the more I heard their self-titled debut the more I like it. Eventually, it would become a favorite of mine. One I know by heart, as matter of fact. Before we go on, I must warn you that the only camera I had with me was my phone's, so sorry if the quality ain't up to snuff.

Anyways, we missed the first opening act, MadamAdam. But, we did see Burn Halo. They proved to be a solid metal act with a sound that sort of recalls later day Eighteen Visions, well, at least vocally. The other band Janus was not really my cup of blood, though the final song they played kicked major ass.

It was then time for the headliners! The beautiful Lzzy Hale came out, and from then on the awesomeness began! They played their whole album and were just amazing! Let me tell you that they rock even harder live!

One of the highlights was the beautiful rendition of their amazing ballad "I'm not an Angel". It was acoustic and very powerful. The crowd was signing in unison along with Lzzy. She said that we all have beautiful voices. Clearly she hadn't heard me well! All kidding aside it was awe-inspiring.

The next highlight was a drum solo by Arejay Hale, who is Lzzy's little bro. He was freaking awesome! Also awesome was when the band came out and played garbage cans while he beat the drums! Killer!

As I said before I listen to this album, a lot, so I sang along to all the songs, and I was totally rocking out! I'm glad Alan liked it, too, and got into the band.

After the concert was done, I waited a short period of time to meet the band. Guitarist, Joe Hottinger, came out and walked up to greet me. He was a really cool dude. In fact, when he saw that I was using my phone camera, he offered that we move next to the stage where we could get some light, being as it don't have a flash. It was a really awesome thing for him to do!

Of course I was dying to meet Lzzy. And, it was great to see how sweet and down to earth she was. I told her that they were great live, and that I listen to the album all the time. As well, as how it is one of my favorite albums. She seemed very flattered!

Anyways, the concert kicked major ass! Great to see a rising band like this giving back to the fans with this free show. And, that they are such fan friendly and awesome people only makes it that much better. I wish the band all the luck in the world, and I hope they continue their success.
