Pantera- Vulgar Display of Power Reissued & Still Ruling the Metal World

Pantera's masterpiece Vulgar Display of Power got reissued in a deluxe 20th anniversary edition recently, and it sold 9,000 copies in its' first week of being rereleased. This landed it at the 48th place in the Billboard 200. That's more than double that that of the reissue of the preceeding album, Cowboys from Hell. I heard this news via Duff's Brooklyn Facebook who posted a link to this post from Blabbermouth: http://legacy.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=174388

Vulgar Display of Power is considered a metal classic and rightfully. It's thought by many, myself included, the best album from the band. They were one of the few metal bands to see huge success in a era that shunned the genre. The fact that this album was so damn heavy, and that each following album was even heavier, only made that success that much sweeter. The band's crunching mix of thrash metal, hardcore, and a killer groove gave us groove metal. They would influence many other bands who dabbled in nu-metal, groove metal, and metalcore. None of these bands, even the best of, though could touch the power of the mighty Pantera.

I got the album, then on tape, back in the 90s when I was in high school.  And, it simply blew me away. It was heavy, aggressive, and fucking badass. It made me wanna break shit and mosh all over the place, most of all on the bus I took to school. Pantera became along with Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, and Anthrax one of my five favorite bands of all time. This is where they remain to this day. Their music was so important to my life. Admit ably I went through some hard times in high school, college, and in some of the early years of my post-college life. Yet, their music always gave me energy and power. Even when I felt like shit, they were one of the bands that I could count on to get me pumped. For that reason along, my connection to the band is extremely deep.

When Dimebag was tragically killed in December 8, 2004, it saddened me greatly. I cried. Shit, even writing this brings back some of those feelings. I wrote a letter to Revolver magazine, which got printed expressing my sadness and my deep love for him and Pantera.
The reissuee proves that this album has not lost any of it's power despite the many bands that have ripped-off the Pantera groove and sound. It's still heavy and killer as fuck. Aside from the classic album, with such ferocious classic tracks as "Walk", "This Love", "Fucking Hostile", and "Mouth of War" (my all time favorite Pantera track), it comes with the never before released track "Piss". Unlike many never before released tracks that are kind of lame, this one is totally killer!! There are also some live videos on a DVD, as well as the three videos made for the album.
Pantera and Vulgar Display of Power fucking rule. And, if you need to be reminded then hear ya go:

I would like to also take this time to wish you all a safe and fun long Memorial Day Weekend. And, to not forget the true meaning of it, either. As, we should always remember and be thankful for those who made the ultimate sacrifice for us.

I am so happy to see her on it. She deserves all the success she's got. Aside from her good heart and devotion to the genre, she's been through a lot and Lord knows she busts her ass.

Marvel's The Avengers

Title: Avengers
Director & writer: Joss Whedon
Cast: Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston

The evil god of mischief, and brother to Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Loki (Tom Hiddleston) takes the tesseract cube (last seen in the awesome Captain America movie and also known as the Cosmic Cube by comic-book fans) and uses it to bring an alien army to enslave humanity. Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and S.H.I.E.L.D soon gather Earth's mightiest heroes to form the Avenger's Innovative. And, while at first they clash, they come to terms and unite to save the NYC from sure destruction.

Let's not even mince words here, this IS THE ultimate superhero film. It tops the original Iron Man (which I always liked more than Dark Knight) and is perfection on celluloid. From the beginning to the very end, it is a rip-roaring, full throttle assault. This dear readers is fucking nirvana.

Whedon scores again, as he did with the amazing Cabin in the Woods, he proves he is a true fanboy and gives us the kind of movie you see only in your wettest comic-book dream (OK. not the one where the Black Widow fucks Spider-Woman with a strap-on but maybe the porn parody will have that). There is NEVER a boring second, as it moves at a breathtaking pace. The FX are jaw-dropping and the images of massive death and destruction are simply killer.
The acting is great! The amazing script allows all the characters to get the right amount of time and interaction is perfect between them. Downey Jr. is excellent as always as my fav Avenger Iron Man, he has some of the best lines in the movie. Hemsworth is great as Thor. Evans is just so fucking good as Captain America. Johansson, whom I haven't liked for years, was much, much better as Black Widow here, than she ever was in Iron Man 2. In fact, to me this is is her best acting in ages. And, the first time in centuries she inspired any sexual attraction in me. But, to me Cobie Smolders, as Agt. Hill, is hotter. Anyway, Ruffalo is excellent as Bruce Banner, and the Hulk RULES in this movie. They finally got him perfect!!! I really liked Renner as Hawkeye. He was a badass. But, it's Hiddleston's Loki that really shines, as an arrogant, evil asshole.

I LOVED the two scenes that happen in the middle and the end of the credits. FUCKING AWESOME!!!

This movie has made a KILLING at the box office and rightfully so. A fucking godsend this is a two hour and a half geekgasm!! It is THE movie of the year, and I doubt any movie will top it. See it again!! NOW!!!!

**** out of ****

Phoenix Marie Is Hotter than Ever!

I was thinking about the beautiful Ms. Phoenix Marie last night and this morning. Thus, it felt like now was the perfect time to do a write up about this stunning and sexy beauty, who has become one of my favorites.
Ms. Phoenix Marie was born on September 21, 1981. She is a porn actress and has also been a Penthouse Pet.
She has a beautiful face, stunning blue eyes, a nice set of tits, and, my fav asset of hers, a delicious ass!!! I guess that puts the ASS in asset!!
As gorgeous as she was as a blonde, she is even more stunning in her current look: brunette. Seriously, I am absolutely in love with her!!! Combine the dark with glasses, and I'm honestly ready to ask her to marry me!
When it comes to her scenes Phoenix is sexy, energetic, and nasty. Witness her scene in Jayden Jaymes Unleashed where she has a threesome with the gorgeous title star. In that she swallows the load! Bisexual and naughty this babe also does anal and interracial!
It's clear the industry agrees with how awesome she is, as she has been nominated for AVN and XBIZ awards in the past and as well as having won two Fans of Adult Media Entertainment awards.
Recently it was revealed that this beauty is playing Xena in the Exquisite Films upcoming porn parody Xena: Warrior Princess XXX: An Exquisite Films Parody. Inspired by the 1995-1999 fantasy TV series starring Lucy Lawless in the lead role, it had a strong cult following, including among many lesbians who felt the undercurrents of lesbianic love between Xena and Gabrielle (Renee O'Connor). Surely, their will be NO undercurrent here as Gabrielle is played by the cute and sexy Lexi Belle. I have to say this ranks as one of my most highly anticipated porn releases of the year. While, many a parody leave me wondering why in the fuck it was made in the first place, this one is a no brainer! The casting is PERFECT!!! Can't wait till it comes out later this year!!
If you wanna see more of this goddess, and who wouldn't, you can visit her on her official site as well as follow her on Twitter account
In short this sexy and curvy beauty is fucking amazing and the sky is the limit for her. I truly love Phoenix Marie!!!!

Chiller Theatre April 2012

Another Chiller has passed us by. But, what a time it was! While, I may not have gone up to as many celebs as I have in the past, I can tell you that I had the most fun, I ever have! And, I have been going to this event for years!

My friend Alan picked up Baldwin and I early in the morning. Then we met up with Pat. And, a little later I met up with Kristie, Kristin P., Mike, and Erika. This meant that at this Chiller, I had myself an entourage of the most awesome friends and fellow fans, ever!

The first celeb I went up to was the lovely Melina, former WWE women's champion. She was sitting there with the very sweet and beautiful Rosita of TNA. Rosita wasn't signing sadly, as she was just sitting in with her friend. Regardless, they both talked up a storm with Erika and me and were sweethearts. The internet loves to talk to talk shit, but I am here to say that Melina is so sweet and nice, in person. Both of them were.

The first celeb I actually payed to meet was Lilian Gracia, who has sung the National Anthem at WWE events and was/ sometimes still is a ring-announcer for them. She was also very sweet and friendly and happy to talk to us. We got a Polaroid with her.

The only other celeb I met was Maryam D'Abo who was one of my fav Bond girls growing up. She signed my DVD of The Living Daylights, which is easily my fav Timothy Dalton Bond film. She said she had never seen this release, in particular. I told her it was an older rerelease, 2007 to be precise, and that I had gotten it as a birthday gift.

Between the fun we had lunch, hung around the con, and bought lots of cool shit. I got myself a stunning Suspiria t-shirt from a guy who was selling his art. I have seen his art in Horrorhound and Rue Morgue magazines. Amazing! I also bought myself, a Blue Velvet tee. I saw that shirt at a horror tee site and wanted it as soon as I saw it. When, I spotted it towards the end of the con itself, when Kristin D. got herself a sweet Misfits tee, I had to buy it. It took them a while to find my size, but they eventually did. Rejoice!! I also got blu-rays of Zombie, Intruder, Thou Shalt Not Kill... Except!, and Frankenhooker.

Finally the party came and we partied harder than anyone!! I mean we had a fucking blast!!!! And, of course the Dead Elvi kicked fucking ass.  At one point Bebe Buell joined them onstage. She has a great voice!!

In all, I had such a fucking blast that this one will go down in history. Cause, hanging with your closet and best friends at one of the best cons in the world is gonna always mean total and complete epicness!! Here's to the next one!!!
